A BETTER MAN

Such are the hearts of men, that they are cold and caged,
When all you wanted was to make a better man.
Such are the tongues of men, that they are repulsive and insulting,
When all you wanted was to make a better man.
Such are thoughts of men, that they are rigid and unaccepting,
When all you wanted was to make a better man.
Such are the ears of men, proud and self important,
When all you wanted was to make a better man.

HEALING

Times come in life when the soul must heal
A time for refreshing from all it has to feel
There are times when we must escape
Moving away from a blurred landscape
Walking away from  the hatred and anger that bring strife
Because when all is said and done
When all is imagined and crafted into  plan
When we indulge our hearts
And play our parts
However careful, however reckless
However inclined, however driven
Whatever we do whatever we say
Whether we go or hang on and stay
There’s a part of us that bears the brunt
That chooses to fight
That chooses to live
That chooses to stay put when tears fall
That part that holds up when fears fall
The core that burns with fire
When life threatens your all
There’s the part that fuels your dreams the part that brightens your day
And shows us the way
So however careful, however reckless
Guard your soul for it is your treasure
Your solace and your refuge in a world of pressure
Keep it and tackle it not for silver or gold
Guard it and keep it burning bold
Because when all is said and done
All you have is your soul

LIFT ME

Lift me to a place where this sadness has nowhere to stay
To a place far away...
Where sorrow and her troops will be held at bay...
Take me where the sun shall paint my skies and brighten my days...
Because here, this place?
Has left me in a daze,..
Spun me around and left me stuck in a maze...
It's landed a hard slap upon my face...
It can't be another phase...
The years will soon fly,
My dreams shall soon die
And all I can ever do is wonder why.
Now, I have not the energy to cry,
So I'll just turn the pages and wish this red hot pain away,.
Or write poems and forget this dream ever came my way.
